# VPN protocols

TunnelHQ supports 11 VPN protocols. Each check connects the way a real client does, so a healthy result means the tunnel came up.

| Protocol | Group | What you provide |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [WireGuard](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/protocols/wireguard/) | Standard | A WireGuard config |
| [OpenVPN](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/protocols/openvpn/) | Standard | An `.ovpn` config, a username, and a password |
| [IKEv2](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/protocols/ikev2/) | Standard | A host, a username, and a password |
| [VLESS, VMess, Trojan, Shadowsocks, Hysteria2, TUIC](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/protocols/v2ray-xray/) | V2ray/Xray | A connection URL (share link) |
| [AmneziaWG](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/protocols/amneziawg/) | Obfuscated | An AmneziaWG config |
| [OpenConnect](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/protocols/openconnect/) | Obfuscated | A name, a host, a username, and a password |

The groups are the same as in the protocol picker when you add a monitor.

## Filling in the fields

When you [add a monitor](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/concepts/monitors/), paste a config or share link and TunnelHQ detects the protocol and fills in the fields. Or click **Enter details manually**, choose a protocol, and enter them yourself. Required fields must be set before you can save.

:::tip[Not sure which fields you need?]
If you have a config file or share link, paste it into **Add monitor** or [Import monitors](https://docs.tunnelhq.com/import/) and let detection fill in the fields. It's the most reliable way to get every field right.
